Flow Into Ease, Strength & Fun(gi) Field Trips
Two complementary workshops with maRia Probst and Christian Apschner in cooperation with ImPulsTanz - Vienna International Dance Festival

Flow Into Ease, Strength & Fun(gi) Field Trips
You want to find your ease of movement again, as well as your balance, strength and endurance?
We restart your movement life joyfully building your physical confidence based on your individual abilities – while being connected to yourself and others, learning about mushrooms and the nature around you.
Choose both workshops for maximum experience, or take either the Flow into Ease or the Flow into Strength to enjoy more unstructured daily time. Each workshop consists of approximately 100 minutes of activity daily. The Fun(gi) Field Trips – with mushroom discoveries and other field trips - are shared moments for everyone and thus included with the registration to any of the two workshops.
Flow Into Ease
An experience of ease workshop with maRia Probst
Together we create an experience of ease by reconnecting with the potent resources a free-flowing breath has to offer. Listening to the language of the body, its expressions in movement, you can use your available potential to regain childlike ease in your daily activities and beyond.
We slow down while allowing our bodies to open and expand like a landscape. The willingness to interact with momentum, gravity, centrifugal and other forces create lightness in movement. We support each other with appropriate touch, studying biomechanical connections within ourselves in an embodied way – for example how to allow ourselves to fold deeply in our hip valleys as a base for effortless lifting of the leg. We learn about how fascia works and support it with imagination and joyful, dynamic movement. The shape, weight and gliding ability of our organs enable us to swing effortlessly through space. Within our bodily journey we draw from several somatic movement practices such as Trager – Mentastics, Qi Gong, Body Mind Centering, Skinner Releasing and others
Duration: Approximately 100 minutes daily
Flow Into Strength
A physical confidence workshop with Christian Apschner
Any level of experience is welcome, we will make sure that we will address all levels of fitness, ages and abilities!
We will use playful movement for balance, strength, coordination, flexibility, reflexes and endurance to make us capable of interacting physically with the world around us. Using balance exercises, crawling, climbing, running, easy parcours exercises, we will support and push ourselves to our very individual limits and strengthen our self-confidence.
Developmental movement patterns and exercises with partners help us to rediscover and expand our physical competence, while bringing the fun into the game.
We will use both the possibility of indoor and outdoor training for our purposes.
Duration: Approximately 100 minutes daily
SHARED MOMENTS:
Fun(gi) Field Trips
Let's discover mushrooms in the Umbrian fungi paradise together, and admire the wildlife along the way! Christian will share his profound ecological knowledge about the world of mushrooms with us. Mushroom life offers insights in how an individual can be part of a bigger system. “Mushrooms can change our minds, heal our bodies and even help us avoid environmental disaster; they are metabolic masters, earth-makers and key players in most of nature's processes.” (See Merlin Sheldrake’s Entangled Life). Mushrooms can also help us to realize the connections between the multiple crises and opportunities current in humanity, but above all they may help us to recognize connections among and within us.
We turn the mushroom foraging into a partnering with nature. A dance in which we
experience the mushrooms as “companion species”, to speak with Donna Haraway. Biodiversity also means diversity of movement and by means of improvised scores we might create spontaneous works of art - comparable to the popping up of a collection of mushroom fruiting bodies in a forest.
One field trip will take us into one of the medieval towns in the vicinity where we will enjoy the Italian dolce vita.
Duration: Approximately 100 minutes daily
Workshops can also be booked individually
Meet your workshop leaders
maRia, originally studied at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz / Austria, has been a freelance dance and performance artist and contemporary dance teacher since 1999. In the course of her training at the Moving On Centre in San Francisco, she was certified as a Somatic Educator and Participatory Arts Practitioner. maRia Probst explores many facets of this form of art in various settings. She is engaged as a dance teacher nationally and internationally by ImPulsTanz, TQW, K3- Hamburg and others. As part of the School of Theatre, she accompanied drama students for many years, both pedagogically and artistically. For more than two decades, she has designed and managed the rollingpoint association (contact improvisation, contemporary dance and somatic learning) in a team with Christian Apschner. Together with colleagues, she has been conducting interdisciplinary basic artistic research as the Somex Group since 2007. She creates participatory arts settings in various context.
She is currently part of the Erasmus+ funded project Keep on Dancing! (KODA)
maRia Probst is a certified Tuina practitioner which is considered to be the manual aspect of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is a trained somatic fascia therapist, Somatic Educator and a mum.
More information about maRia is available at https://rollingpoint.at/en/

Christian originally was trained as an environmental expert. He is co-founder of the Vienna based association rollingpoint and has 25 years of experience in teaching Somatic Movement, Dance and Contact Improvisation. Inspired by his work as practitioner for bodywork (Trager somatic exploration/movement education, Ortho-Bionomy) he has developed free flowing three-dimensional movement sequences (3-D Flow Movement). To him dance and performance art are part of an artistic and social life concept and a welcome opportunity to make the invisible visible. His mission is to spread the benefit of somatic education, dance and bodywork as a tool for lifelong learning to everybody — whether they are a dancer or not. In his free time, Christian spends much time in the nature as a mycologist. He gives mushroom field courses for the Austrian Mycological Society and finds links between his artistic projects, science and mycology.
