Self-sufficient practices
At Tenuta di Poggiolame, we practice embodied thinking and relating. Our organic products reflect our commitment to sustainability and self-sufficiency.
With all actions on the farm, we consider how to increase biodiversity and how to foster self-reliance. We craft homemade bread and pasta, combining them with the freshest ingredients from our own vegetable and herb gardens. Our olive oil is a testament to the rich flavors of the region. Savor the delicate notes of our olive leaf tea, indulge in the wholesome goodness of walnuts and cherries straight from our orchards, and delight in the delicious eggs generously provided by our free-range chickens. We cut the hay as a late as possible in order to provide food for insects, and leave parts of the grass for wildlife.
Sustainability
We cultivate water-saving practices such as catching rainwater, save water wherever possible, and use the energy of the sun for heating the water and electricity.
Our salt-water pool is not only gentle for your skin, it also reduced the use of chemicals needed in chlorine pools. Filtered water, sourced from our very own well, provides you with excellent drinking water. We rely on our own woods to fuel our fireplaces and wood-burning stoves. We prioritize local sourcing whenever possible and reduce waste. Renovation of the house was made with non-toxic materials.
